Spring Fever.

I've got it.
Bad.
I know the calendar says April
But sometimes, in New England, it snows...in April...as it did last week.

Luckily, as quickly as it came down, it melted.
Today we have bright blue skies and sunshine.
It's not all that warm, but I'll take it.

Some things I'm looking forward to.
bike rides with hubs. maybe mocha will fit in that cute little basket? {doubtful..she gets bigger every day!}
skirts & sundresses. I'll take that whole outfit actually. Thanks J.Crew.
peonies. my fave. can't wait to walk into Trader Joe's and see them :)

open toed shoes & bright toes. my winter feet are ready to be pampered.
runs. in shorts & tees. after last weekend, I've got the motivation.
opening all the windows in the house & feeling the fresh air.

What are your favorite things about Spring?

Someday.

I feel like baby fever is in full force these days. Anyone else feeling this? Everywhere I go, everyone I talk to...is either a) pregnant b) a new momma or c) wondering when babies are heading our way. I guess that's what happens when  you get married and buy a house...seems like the next logical step, huh?

I think maybe we'll start with another pup.

And until the baby days come, I have an entire folder of nursery inspiration saved on my computer to swoon over.

Bedroom Plan Update

I have a confession to make. I didn't get to start my meal planning menu as I had wanted to last night. I didn't realize Billy the floor guy was planning on sanding and coating my kitchen, breakfast nook, and front hall yesterday...so I was pretty much trapped in the basement for the afternoon. The kitchen is kinda the "through-way" of our house, meaning you need to go through there to get to the garage, basement, living room, um...everywhere. Kinda annoying. Did I mention I will be so glad when Billy the floor guy is no longer making a daily appearance at my house? Because it seriously cannot be soon enough. Hopefully I will be back to my scheduled menu plan tonight!

So what did I do all day while I was trapped in the basement? Read blogs and online shopped. Oh, and I saw Inception. I know I'm a little late to jump on this train, but my goodness how great was that movie!?

Thanks to some wedding gift cards that we had strategically saved, I was able to go on a little mini online shopping spree last night, for house things of course. And now, I can feel the master bedroom plan coming together.

Our final choice for a bed. This was a more cost effective option and will be much more proportional for our room than the other beds I had shared last week.
Valencia II Sleigh Bed
Our bedding. We already have the duvet, which was given as a shower gift, but  I ordered the shams and another decorative pillow.
Matine Toile Bedding
We have a dresser from an antique shop which I love and are in search of another one for hubby. Luckily our room has some built in drawers that he is currently using. We will also be on the hunt for some bedside tables. As soon as the bed gets delivered I will for sure have {real} pictures!

Another piece I'm lusting after is a vanity. I never thought I would want a vanity, but I've always had a bathroom with some counter space! Now that hubby and I share a smaller bathroom {we were lucky enough to have our own bathrooms in our old apartment!} with a pedestal sink and no counter, it's hard to put on make up and use a curling iron or straightener, little things like that. Check out some inspiration photos I have saved.

My favorites are the mirrored glass vanities, but I've had a hard time finding any that are affordable. I did come across this beauty, which has serious possibilities. Plus,  it's on sale!

Possibly my favorite part? The little stool! It looks very similar to the second inspiration photo, and you can customize the upholstery for it. These are some of my favorite patterns:

Thanks for all of your supportive comments on my house plans so far! It really means more to me than you know. I can't wait until things physically start coming together! Soon enough, friends!

Guest Blogging & Some Home Inspiration

I'm Guest Posting today on Modern Jane about design trends for the new year. Although I am nowhere near an expert on the subject, I was really excited to give it a go! You should definitely check out Jane's blog, it's is filled with lovely DIY projects and renovations of her cute little house.

I have a folder of photos saved on my computer of "home inspiration," so I thought it would be fun to share some photos while we are in the midst of the floor re-do. One space in our home I'm excited to decorate is the living room. We're planning on making the it slightly more formal (think no TV), but not stuffy. We want a comfortable space where we can sit by the fire and play board games, listen to music and talk with friends. Is it bad that this is my idea of a perfect Friday night? A glass of wine, the fireplace blazing, and a board game. Must mean I'm getting old.

I like all of these inspiration photos for different reasons, but this first one is definitely my favorite, overall.

As I mentioned in my guest post, I am definitely going to have a gallery wall somewhere in my house, and the most likely space will be the living room. I love how the wall below is a little bit eclectic, mixing photos among plates, chalkboards, and art work.

 I LOVE this couch.

And this couch as well. I love the style and color.

I'd love to hear your thoughts, and I'll have more to share next week! Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

home for the holidays

I came across this house last week and fell in love. The halls are decked simply, but beautifully, and the whole house feels so cozy. Maybe it's the snow on the trees outside, or the mistletoe hanging from the ceiling, but I want to visit! Looks perfect for a winter afternoon spent with a book & a hot cocoa.
