the weekend.

Stress levels are pretty high around here. Buying a house is no joke! If you could only see the portfolio my husband put together to take to the bank for us to be considered for a mortgage...it.is.insane.

Pay stubs, bank statements, retirement fund accounts, student loan info, letters from employers, and the list goes on. And now they want more! That husband of mind is pretty awesome. Every free second he has had (which is not much..) in the last couple weeks has pretty much been spent getting things together for this mortgage/house. What are we getting ourselves into!? I'm so excited and so nervous!! Our heads are literally spinning.

On that note, I really would like to take up yoga. I need some relaxation in my life! Any recommendations for a beginner? I found a studio close to our house that offers many different types. This week is going to be the week I give it a go!

We made our first trip to Home Depot! How's that for an exciting Saturday night?? I'm sure it will be our first of many, many trips. I wanted to scope out some paint colors since that's one of the first things we'll do even before we move in. The lady at the paint counter told me to take as many samples as I wanted. I may or may not have gone overboard...

Today will be spent looking for home owners insurance and tidying up the last few things the bank has  requested.

Baked goods always seem to help lighten the mood a little bit so I've been finding myself in the kitchen more often. I LOVE baking and cooking so I'm not complaining. Here is a really quick & easy idea I recently came across that you must try if you like pumpkin:
They are SO GOOD! Add about 3-4 tablespoons less water than called for on the muffin package and add 1/4 cup of pumpkin and a dash of cinnamon. While they are baking, mix together some confectioners sugar with a little dash of milk and cinnamon for a glaze. Drizzle the glaze on top while the muffins are still warm. I promise you will not be disappointed. Oh, and do yourself a favor and make 2 packages at once :)

We finally got around to ordering photo albums of the wedding for our parents. Have you heard of Blurb? It's such an awesome company! They let you upload photos to their website and you can design all sorts of fun stuff. We went this route for our guest book at the wedding and it was a big hit. We used photos from our engagement shoot and left spaces blank for people to sign as they arrived at the wedding. It's a great keepsake and now has a home on our coffee table.

So we decided to do this for our parents' albums as well. The quality is excellent and the price is great. If you sign up for their emails, they'll send discount coupons. We got two 100 page books for about $80 some dollars using high quality paper. I can't post too much since my parents won't get theirs until we see them in a few weeks, but we gave the book to my in-laws this weekend and they loved it. Here is a little sneak peak:

Hope you all had a lovely weekend!! Here's to making the best of this Monday.

I'm so glad I saw this. I've been working on a blurb book for my brother and I was kind of wondering if it was going to be worth the price tag!

The pumpkin chocolate chip muffins sound delish! I got married over a year and a half ago and still haven't made any wedding books - for us or our parents. I really need to get on that! Thanks for the reminder!

omg, i remember how stressful it was. it was like one day they would ask for something, we would get it and they would need something else. i snapped more than once at our lender. def. worth the stress but i dread having to do it again in 5-10 yrs!
