Guest Blogging & Some Home Inspiration

I'm Guest Posting today on Modern Jane about design trends for the new year. Although I am nowhere near an expert on the subject, I was really excited to give it a go! You should definitely check out Jane's blog, it's is filled with lovely DIY projects and renovations of her cute little house.

I have a folder of photos saved on my computer of "home inspiration," so I thought it would be fun to share some photos while we are in the midst of the floor re-do. One space in our home I'm excited to decorate is the living room. We're planning on making the it slightly more formal (think no TV), but not stuffy. We want a comfortable space where we can sit by the fire and play board games, listen to music and talk with friends. Is it bad that this is my idea of a perfect Friday night? A glass of wine, the fireplace blazing, and a board game. Must mean I'm getting old.

I like all of these inspiration photos for different reasons, but this first one is definitely my favorite, overall.

As I mentioned in my guest post, I am definitely going to have a gallery wall somewhere in my house, and the most likely space will be the living room. I love how the wall below is a little bit eclectic, mixing photos among plates, chalkboards, and art work.

 I LOVE this couch.

And this couch as well. I love the style and color.

I'd love to hear your thoughts, and I'll have more to share next week! Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

i love all of these ideas for the living room... we have a more casual area downstairs and then a more traditional (NO TV) living room that is great for entertaining on our main floor next to the kitchen! i want to do a gallery wall too and that one is GREAT inspiration with all the different elements

I love gallery walls. And your taste is impeccable. Kind of reminds me of... me.

Haha. Jk. ;P But we do have the same taste in home decor (and pjs), as you know!

That's my ideal Friday night too!

And I'm loving the build in shelves in the last photo. I think our gallery wall will be on the landing of our stairs. We have just a huge space there and you can see it from the foyer too.

I think that sounds perfect for a Friday night! So I'm right there in the senior citizen line with you! : )

I love all of those rooms, but I think the last is my favorite! Maybe it's just the fabulous color of the couch??

I love all of the pictures! I've wanted a gallery wall since forever, but I still have to convince the boyfriend. Let's hope he will like the idea one day!

The first one just rocks! That chalkboard in the gallery and the striped curtains...oh my, LOVE! and the big mirror in the last one with the robins egg sofa...officially smitten. I love the mismatched look, but still clean and put-together. Great picks!

Yes, I too love them all. The color scheme is right up my alley. The chalk board is perfect and the pop or burnt orange is delicious. SO many options!
