thankful.

I love this time of year because it really makes me
look back and count each of my blessings.

There is just so much to be thankful for. Here's my short list.
  •  My husband. He is my best friend and my rock...and we make a pretty awesome team.
  • Our cozy home. It's not only a roof over our heads, but it's our safe haven and I feel so lucky and proud every time I pull up in the driveway.
  • Our families. We spent Thanksgiving in Pennsylvania with my family this year and it was so good to be home again. We are both blessed with supportive and loving families.
  • Our pups...nothing can beat puppy love.
  • Good health for ourselves and our loved ones.
  • This little girl growing inside of me. What an amazing blessing this pregnancy has been.
We are getting so, so excited to meet her.
  • Friends, near and far.
  • Living near the ocean. I never realized how much I would love this.
  • Christmas being right around the corner. I can't wait to get our tree next weekend and decorate the house!
Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with yummy food and lots of love.

    long weekend love

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving full of family, friends and lots and lots of food!

We spent Thanksgiving with my in-laws. Although I didn't get to spend too much time on the couch playing games after dinner, I did get to enjoy the delicious meal and a little family time. It's not very often over the last 5 years that my husband and I get to spend the holiday together, so it was nice to enjoy it while it lasted.

I had to go into work at 3pm for evening shift and had my second meal of the day with my work family. We prepared a crock pot turkey breast and all the fixins'. My pumpkin pies turned out pretty well and I also made this recipe that I highly recommend. Everyone loved it.  It involves cranberries, apples, pecans, marshmallows, and vanilla yogurt. I'm making another batch today because it was that good!

Friday we actually braved the MALL. We didn't do anything crazy like wait in line at 4 am or even get up super early. There was nothing in particular we were looking to buy. We got there around 10:30, and it wasn't nearly as crowded as I thought it would be. We found a parking spot immediately, which is usually the hardest part. My big purchase? A MAC red lipstick. I've been looking for a red lipstick for a while but wasn't sure which shade would be right for me. Enter the MAC lady. She hooked me up.

Friday night we went to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. We met J's best friend and his lady for dinner and the show. It was pretty amazing! Those ladies can DANCE!

These photos are from my phone, so they aren't the best quality. Plus I had to be sneaky because photography was not allowed. But I had to get a couple...for the blog :)

It really was the perfect thing to put us in the holiday spirit. I mean, ladies dancing in Santa suits and singing Christmas songs? And some appearances from Santa himself...what more could you need?

A side note: J's best friend made a very special black Friday purchase for his lady. A RING! We are so excited for them and can't wait for the proposal.

Saturday we had some friends over for cocktails. I can't believe I don't have any photos, but I guess I was too busy entertaining and enjoying those cocktails myself to get out the camera. Sunday was low key. Really low key. This may be kind of embarrassing to admit, but throughout the day, we watched three movies.

I actually watched Elf twice this weekend. It's my favorite! We did manage to get about all of our Christmas shopping done though. In our sweats, on the couch. Can't beat that!  Just a few handmade things to finish up and some more purchases to make for the hubby! What a great feeling!

    Happy Thanksgiving!

I thought this little illustration was too cute not to share, and so very appropriate.

Today involves lots of fun things: a hair appointment, manicure, and lots of time in the kitchen.

    Baking pumpkin pie, {my fave!} a cranberry salad, and candied yams {another fave!}

Tomorrow will by spent with my husband and in-laws & then my work family.

Looking forward to yummy food and a long weekend off with that hubby of mine!

Hope you all have a lovely Thanksgiving!
