summer rewind.

Once upon a time, the month of June flew right by me. Lots of fun was had
And little time was left for blogging.
I figure what better way to celebrate the month of August than with a look back
at the beginning of summer?

The husband finished up his residency program
and we hosted an after party at our house.

Residents, attendings, family and friends
enjoying food & cocktails inside and outside.
Beer pong in the garage.
Guests at the house until 3am.
It was a good party.

My family came up for a visit
and we had a BBQ, with both of our families
where we made the big announcement.
Baby-to-bee!
We framed our ultrasound photo and gave it to our dads as an early Father's Day gift :)
I swear Mocha has gotten so much bigger since this photo. She is growing like a weed.

mid week randomness.

It's been too long once again, but such is life these days.
Here's a little of what's been going on.
  • We had another doctor's appointment on Monday and all is good with the growing gummi bear. A 17  week bumpdate is coming tomorrow!
  • My little sister got engaged a few weeks ago! I'm so excited for her and my future brother in law! They are getting married next July 14th. So in addition to baby stuff, I've also been getting to relive the whole wedding planning process which I have missed terribly.
meg & kyle
  •  Did you know dogs could be allergic to bee stings? Me neither, until yesterday when poor little Lilly got stung and had a slight anaphylactic reaction. The poor thing was so scared. Luckily, a trip to the vet 5 minutes down the road, some Benadryl and Decadron {a steroid}, and she was back to her old self.
  • We finally ordered a living room couch and it should be here next week! I have lots of house updates to post about. So much to blog, so little time.
  • Starting in the end of August I'm cutting back my night shift hours at work a little, with hopes of having a somewhat more normal life. Working two nights a week instead of three should make a big difference and I can't wait.
  • Two of my best friends came up this past weekend and we had a blast! I miss them already. Nothing compares to girl's weekends. It was their first time seeing the house and we did a lot of summery Rhode Island things...Newport, Block Island, beach, shopping, & eating!

      cape cod weekend.

We spent this past weekend on a little getaway to the Cape.
Even though it's only a short drive from Rhode Island,
this was my first time there and I pretty much fell in love.
Every little town epitomizes all that New England has to offer.

We stayed at a little B&B in Chatham, on the southeast corner of Cape Cod.
The whole town was beyond gorgeous.
It's surrounded on three sides by water.
Shingled houses, hydrangea everywhere, and quaint little downtown
complete with ice cream shops, penny candy counters, and one of a kind boutiques.

We lucked out with picture perfect weather all weekend.
And I took this opportunity to break out my Cannon again. Felt good.
We started out the weekend driving to Provincetown, at the very tip of the cape.

main street P-town. cute little shops.
      isn't he handsome?

      pilgrim on a bike, yep.
      gorgeous.
pretty roses. the beach behind main street.
We spent the day exploring the shops and interesting folk that make up P-town.
Then made our way back toward Chatham to check into our abode for the next few days.
      the captain's inn.
breakfast on the patio each morning.
      downtown Chatham.
      beautiful beach.
we took a hike that lead to that little light house.
      15 weeks on Nantucket sound!
      before dinner.
the full moon rising over the bay.
a pretty ending to the night.
Sorry for the photo overload, but I did try to narrow it down.
I guess it's safe to say our first trip to the Cape was a success,
and we can't wait to return.

The husband and I love taking little mini trips like this.
I know they won't be quite as easy once we have a little one in tow,
So we're really soaking it all up!
We have another little getaway planned for the fall,
      a babymoon of sorts :)

Hope you all had a great weekend!

      summer weekend love.

This past weekend was pretty much perfection.
      The weather, the company, everything.

Friday we went to the grand opening of Pinkberry.
It's about time Rhode Island jumped on the froyo train!
We waited in line for about an hour some free stuff.
Totally worth it. I can't wait to go back.
      Then we shopped.
I bought my first maternity shirt, for fall, on clearance...eeep!

Saturday AM we headed to the farmer's market
on the east side of Providence
Scooped up some fresh veggies, eggs, and homemade dill pickles.
A pregnant woman's dream come true.
They were gone in the same day :)

Someone should really buy me a nice camera bag so I can tote my cannon around
and photograph all the goodness that was had.
      *Hint, hint*

Anyway, Saturday afternoon we had a family BBQ.
And then decided to take the pups to the beach.
Did I mention Mocha is part lab/part fish?
We bought her a kiddie pool last week...it's her new favorite thing.
      The pool and ice cubes.
It was pretty much the cutest thing ever,
watching her try to swim in the two feet of water, splashing & playing.

      Lilly, aka Miss Priss, would rather lounge on the chair {not the grass}
She is not interested in the pool whatsoever.

We knew we had to take them to the beach
and give Miss Mocha a taste of some real swimming.
      She loved it, of course.

Sunday the hubs and I had a beach day.
Bright sun and an ocean breeze=a good tan :)
We ended the weekend grilling with my in laws & ice cream.
      Perfect I tell ya.

      summer bucket list

Summer is finally in full swing up here in New England
Sometimes it takes a few extra weeks
for the the 80 degree temps to make their way to us, but better late than never!

I loved Jillian of cornflake dreams' idea of creating
and sharing a summer bucket list.
And I was bummed when I saw that I missed the link up.
So today, I'm trying to make up for it.

Here's whats on our list this summer:
      • Sailboat rides
      • lots of ice cream & Del's lemonade
      • trip to Cape Cod
      • concerts! DMB music festival & OAR
      • beach days
      • home to visit friends & family in Hershey
      • furnish our empty living room
      • make room for baby...aka clear out the spare bedroom & closet
      • farmer's markets
      • day trip to Boston for shopping & dinner in the north end
      • girl's weekend with college friends
      • Pawsox baseball game
farmer's market, north end, popsicles, sailboat

And after I saw this photo on pinterest, I decided I'm making these lists a tradition in the M house.
We might need a bigger chalkboard!

      So what do ya think...
Did you make a summer bucket list?

      summer full speed ahead.

June is shaping up to be a very busy month.
Friday the husband graduates from his residency program.
      Goodbye hospital, goodbye overnight call.
      Hello private practice!
This has been eleven years in the making, six of which I've happily been a part of...
so it's kind of a big deal.
I'm so proud of the hubs :)

We are hosting the resident's after graduation party at our house.
At first I was skeptical, because usually these types of things are at a bar or restaurant,
but now I'm looking forward to it.
It will be catered so no need to worry about food or drinks
and it has given us the boost we needed to get some things done around the house.
We have been busy prepping the yard with some fun lights and a fire pit.

There is now a home made fire pit back behind the hammock!
Next week, my family is coming up for a few days.
It will be the first time everyone is here, together.
We have a cookout planned, a celebration dinner in Newport
       {celebrating a graduation, a birthday, Father's Day, and some anniversaries!}
and hopefully a sailboat ride, if the weather cooperates!

Then comes our one year anniversary.
      I can't even believe it's been a whole year.
The wedding literally feels like it was yesterday.
This year has been amazing. and FAST!

The following weekend we'll be heading to Atlantic City
for a three day music festival

I'm getting tired just thinking about all of this.
My heart is full and I cannot wait for the goodness that is to come!

      summer of concerts.

I know I've mentioned this a few times before,
but I'm a serious lover of live music.

So this summer, the hubs and I have decided to attend a couple big concerts.
I am looking forward to each of these, and everything else summer has to offer.

First up in June, we'll be trekking down to Atlantic City for the three day music festival.

The festival is headlined by my all time fave, Dave Matthews Band
but some other pretty amazing artists will also be in attendance.

Then in August, we'll be going to see O.A.R in Boston.

And we're looking for one to attend in July. Any suggestions?
We don't mind a road trip!
